Community Care Statement

Logo of Pene Vivan, it is a tree made of hands, that have leaves multi color as the canolpy and a campfire in the middle.

Pené Vivan, believes healing, learning, and growth happen best in community. Through trauma-informed trainings, creative workshops and consulting, we partner with families, educators, nonprofits, and organizations to strengthen environments where people feel safe to learn, grow, and belong. Our work focuses on mental health awareness, social-emotional development, and practical tools that help communities support one another.

The name Pené Vivan, meaning “We are always alive,” reflects the belief that people and communities continue to grow, adapt, and find new ways forward. The work is inspired by the founder’s Potawatomi and Creole heritage and honors the traditions of community knowledge-sharing, creativity, and care.

We also acknowledge the Indigenous peoples who have stewarded the lands where we work, including the Rappahannock Tribe and other Algonquian-speaking peoples. Together, we create spaces where communities can gather, learn, and thrive.
